Surfboard Day Bags, What’s New?!? (Ending)

This is the 2nd. half of our “Surfboard Day Bags, What’s New?!?” post. If you choose wisely, a mid ranged Surfboard Day Bag can offer you MOST of the options of a high end Bag, so bang for you buck here is ideal. Surfboard Day Bags, What’s New?!?

I got a lot of feedback on my “Travel Surfboard Bags, What’s New?!?” post, so I decided I would do the same type of post for Surfboard Day Bags. Again, there are a TON of Surfboard Day Bags manufacturers out there, but the good news for you is that we’ve all ready “per-screened” them all and we only offer the BEST of the BEST. Competition creates my favorite thing, INNOVATION! With that said, Surfboard Day Bags features are as varied as the companies that make them. Generally speaking there are 3 “styles” of Surfboard Day Bag and while different companies call them by different names, what you’re looking at are basic, regular and premium Surfboard Day Bags. A base level Surfboard Day Bags is usually made will a light tarpee/tarpee material on both sides and comes in at a good budget price point, but usually offers very few extras. Regular Surfboard Day Bags usually offer some form of a Nylon side (which you should ALWAYS put towards the ground, the tough nylon will stay in good shape against the elements) and a tarpee/silver reflective side. (which you should ALWAYS face up, to keep your board cool) To Be Continued…

How to buy a Surfboard Day Bag. REALLY.

Hey guys! Sorry it’s been a while. I get swamped and next thing I know I haven’t posted in two weeks! Sorry about that! Anyway, there’s a lot of chatter out there about “how to buy a Surfboard Day Bag, so I figured I would clear the air a bit. Most companies cut their Day Bags a bit long, so if you had a 6’6″ board a 6’6″ Day Bag would work just fine. Also, it’s IMPORTANT to get a Surfboard Day Bag with one side of the “reflective tarpee” companies call it by different names, but it basically serves the same purpose. When you’re using your Day Bag, put the reflective side UP and you will find your Bag (and board) stay nice and cool. I personally prefer a Day Bag with a good heavy duty nylon on once side and the reflective tarpee on the other. When used properly (Nylon side down and tarpee side up) your Day Bag will last a long time and you’re board will stay nice and cool. A removable shoulder strap COULD be key when strapping your Surfboard Day Bag to your roof. When the shoulder strap is NOT removable the strap can flap around and could possibly scratch your car. Those are the MAIN points when buying a Surfboard Day Bag, but as usual you get what you pay for. So, if you want a bag that will last and protect your board well it will probably cost you a bit more, but if you have a nice board then we both know it’s worth it. Talk to you soon.

Travel Surfboard Bags: They’re all the same right?!?

Good Morning! Time for my 9:00am post… (I know it’s almost 10:00am, but the post was supposed to be up by 9:00am, thus it’s still a 9:00am post… I guess?) So, Surfboard Travel Bags, their all the same right?!? Nope. We only carry PROVEN brands and even within the BEST Surfboard Travel Bags on the market the differences are HUGE. But what’s the most important factors? And how would I suggest you choose a bag? We’ll, first, QUALITY. Whether you buy from us or from someone else get a quality bag. If you don’t you might as well take your own luggage and drop it on your board half a dozen times before you leave your house for the airport. DON’T USE A DAY BAG TO TRAVEL WITH! Seems like a simple concept, but we see it all the time. Sure it saves you money… NO IT DOESN’T, you’ll be buying a new board at the savings of about $50.00 on the bag. Day Bags only have 1/4in. foam padding (typically) and Travel Bags have 3/4in. foam padding. (typically) Rule of thumb, if your board is going to be in your possession at ALL times a Day Bag is fine, otherwise Travel Bag all the way. To be Continued…
