STORMPROOF?!? Prolite we Can’t Wait!

Hey Guys, this came down the pipes from Prolite today. Get excited! I’ll post more details once I have them!

“Two years plus in development Prolite is about 7 months away from the release of STORMPROOF an elite line of travel products. We’ve been testing different materials over the last 18-24 months in an effort to find the highest quality materials and best components available on the market. These are not your everyday bags and are made exclusively for the traveler looking for the highest level of protection. Prolite is known for board bags and this will solidify the Prolite name as the stand out in this category. In addition to board bags under the STORMPROOF name we will also be releasing a limited line of backpacks and luggage within the next 12 months that will also sport the STORMPROOF logo and feature high grade materials for the frequent traveler. The STORMPROOF line will be available through very limited retail channels and will only be sold in the United States.”

You know you’ll be able to get this line here at The Surfboard Warehouse once they’re available! Stay tuned!

Surfboard Travel Bags: They’re all the same right?!? (Part 5)

Happy Halloween! (If you want to see a YouTube Vid. of some of the guys costumes from The Surfboard Warehouse click HERE, FUNNY stuff!! More proof you can do ANYTHING if you put your mind to it! lol) Now, back to Travel Surfboard Bags. How much padding do they have? Well, typically they have 3/4 in foam padding sandwiched between a tarpee inner liner and a tough nylon outside. Some bags (my personal favorites) have one side Nylon and the other a heat reflective tarpee. When you’re using this type of Travel Surfboard Bag PUT THE TARPEE SIDE UP! This way your boards will stay cool whether they’re on the roof of your car or sprawled out on the beach. (Yes, it makes that much of a difference. That’s how the bag is designed!) FCS uses dual density foam on some of their Travel Surfboard Bags. I wouldn’t be surprised if this type of construction becomes the standard because it’s SICK. Prolite‘s protection and pocket placement/usage are KEY. So, if you’re the surfer that likes all their gear in it’s place, Prolite may be the way to go. I’ll highlight some of our other companies stand out Travel Surfboard Bag features in my next and possibly LAST Travel Surfboard Bag post. (Don’t quote me on that though. lol)

Company Profile: Prolite

I know, I know… It’s the 3rd. post of the day. HOWEVER! This is a GOOD ONE! I figured you guys might like to get the inside scoop on where your favorite surf companies came from and what better place to start than with Prolite! Prolite’s story is practically iconic! Started in 1982 by two airline flight attendants (obviously they took their jobs to gain access to cheap world travel for the purposes of surfing) who quickly realized (what we all know today) that the airlines are HARSH on our boards. Thus, Prolite was born! Prolite started out as a “Surfboard Bag” company, or more specifically a “Travel Surfboard Bag” company, then quickly grew to what we know them as today. (We’re trying to verify, but we might credit Prolite with creating the worlds first Travel Surfboard Bag) A company focused on surfboard bags and “Quality First”, letting everything else follow. Prolite’s line of surf hard goods is just that, QUALITY. However if I had to pick a personal favorite, I would have to choose the Prolite Rhino Fish/Funboard Bag. If you’re traveling with two boards, one of them being a Fish/Funboard, there’s no reason to look anywhere else for two reasons. One: You don’t have many other options, Two: Nothing else we’ve found comes close.
