Surf Expo. Sept. 2014 Top Picks

First, my apologizes for being gone so long. I’ll do better to keep the posts coming from here on out. To get back into gear I wanted to review my top pics. from Surf Expo. Sept. 2014.

There was TONS going on, with the industry party at Typhoon Lagoon Friday night being at the forefront of the excitement. However the free massage(s) for myself and The Surfboard Warehouse crew in the Surf Expo PBC lounge on Sat. afternoon were a very close 2nd. While for us Surf Expo is completely about surf, we did cruse through the wake section for a bit to check out the Wake Board Boats and I have to give crossover company Body Glove props. for their Wake Board Boat, it was epic for sure.

Something a bit different this year was the number of dogs on the floor. Next year we’re bringing our warehouse pup Cookie for sure. Must have seen at least a dozen dogs in various booths and cruising the floor, it’s pretty epic to have the K-9 interaction. Props to Surf Expo, we hope it continues next year.

We viewed a lot of new products, from companies like Dakine, Billabong, Rainbow Fins and more who all had a strong presence at Expo and while we love all of our vendors, Body Glove gets some more love as their board short line for 2015 is going to be sick. I managed to get a pic. with my favorite pair of board shorts, in two different colors which land is stores next year.

(the body Glove Girls did not sway my decision what so ever.) Anyway, here at The Surfboard Warehouse we’ve decided to get into soft goods next year and we’ll be starting with both Dakine and Body Glove Board Shorts. Welcome to The Surfboard Warehouse Part 3

And with this it’s done! Our 3rd. and final part in our “Welcome to The Surfboard Warehouse” video series. We released part ONE about three weeks ago. Since then we’ve dropped Part TWO and added a TON of stuff to our YouTube Channel and now we’re dropping Part 3! This video series was designed to give YOU a behind the scenes look at The Surfboard Warehouse. “Welcome to The Surfboard Warehouse” Part THREE is the perfect ending to our series. Remember that we started as a online CUSTOM Surfboard Shop and we’re staying true to our roots, thus why we don’t have a TON of surfboards in stock. But, don’t worry about it! We can get you a custom board made, exactly the way you want from almost any shaper you can think of. Our new warehouse is sick, we moved in in May and have spent the better part of 6 months creating a surf shop like nothing you’ve ever seen. Journey of The Surfboard Warehouse (Part Uno)

I figured we would work on our Spanish during this round of posts. lol Anyway, with the addition of Billabong, Quiksilver (Which reminds me! Congrats to Kelly Slater who won his 11th. world title yesterday! One word, FREAK! On a personal note I called it back on Oct. 12th. in my FIRST “Future Fins or FCS Fins?!?” post. So , without further adieu, I told you so and I told you it was coming. lol) and Hurley, I sat back with a smile as we hit this important mile stone and reflected on where we have come from. I figured I would share some of our story with you. Growing The Surfboard Warehouse has been an unbelievable experience and without diving into this right now I would like to say that the fact that The Surfboard Warehouse exists is proof that God exists. The Surfboard Warehouse was a class project of mine my Junior year of college. In the beginning I’ll admit had NO IDEA what I was doing as a business man. However, through the grace of God, things happened that not only kept us going, but had us thriving in no time. I’ll make it simple for you, if you have a business and want it to succeed pray over it. PERIOD. I’ll dive into The Surfboard Warehouse‘s past over the next few posts.

Company Profile: Prolite

I know, I know… It’s the 3rd. post of the day. HOWEVER! This is a GOOD ONE! I figured you guys might like to get the inside scoop on where your favorite surf companies came from and what better place to start than with Prolite! Prolite’s story is practically iconic! Started in 1982 by two airline flight attendants (obviously they took their jobs to gain access to cheap world travel for the purposes of surfing) who quickly realized (what we all know today) that the airlines are HARSH on our boards. Thus, Prolite was born! Prolite started out as a “Surfboard Bag” company, or more specifically a “Travel Surfboard Bag” company, then quickly grew to what we know them as today. (We’re trying to verify, but we might credit Prolite with creating the worlds first Travel Surfboard Bag) A company focused on surfboard bags and “Quality First”, letting everything else follow. Prolite’s line of surf hard goods is just that, QUALITY. However if I had to pick a personal favorite, I would have to choose the Prolite Rhino Fish/Funboard Bag. If you’re traveling with two boards, one of them being a Fish/Funboard, there’s no reason to look anywhere else for two reasons. One: You don’t have many other options, Two: Nothing else we’ve found comes close.
