FCS H3 Nexus Fins

Introducing the FCS H3 Nexus!! "The FCS H3 Nexus fins give me a burst of speed and acceleration right before I hit the lip. It's a fast fin, and when you have speed you have more options" - Dion Agius

From the moment you ride the FCS H3 Nexus you’ll realize this fin has something special. Whether your surfing tight in the pocket or carving on the open face, you can surf confidently knowing all the elements of the FCS H3 are working in synergy to deliver the ultimate advantage, more speed. The performance of the H3 Nexus is seamless; yet quite deliberate in the way it feels. The FCS H3 NEXUS features TRICOIL technology, a dynamic flex pattern that effectively stores and releases energy as the surfer transitions from one turn into the next. This transition between turns is where most surfers struggle to maintain speed. FCS has solved this problem by designing the H3 Nexus, a fin with a highly efficient template, material stability, minimal drag characteristics, and above all, unparalleled flex properties!

FCS H3 Nexus Flex: Tricoil

The FCS H3 Nexus fins feature Tricoil technology which is the latest development in fin flexion. It draws on the material lay-up of the fin, the cambered foil, and the overall fin template. The result is a multi-directional flex pattern. This unique flex pattern allows the FCS H3 Nexus to "load-up" and flex under pressure, and then de-coil once the pressure is released. Ultimately the H3 stores energy during the transition between turns and then gives it back to the surfer in the form of speed and acceleration. The feeling can be compared to a slingshot, or whipping effect as the surfer enters and then exits through the turning arc.

FCS H3 Nexus Foil: Super Efficient

The FCS Nexus Fins features a highly efficient foil, which can be the defining element that makes for exceptional fin performance. The highly cambered foil in the base of the H3 Nexus provides drive and hold, while the low cambered foil in the tip provides stability and allows the fin to release with control, even when the FCS H3 Nexus is pushed to the limits. This cambered foil on the H3 also increases the fins stall angle which helps to produce down-the-line speed and maintain projection through the entire turning arc.

FCS H3 Nexus Template: Low Aspect w/ Elliptical Template

The FCS H3 nexus features an efficient, low aspect ratio elliptical template. The long base increases drive, while the moderate volume in the tip enhances the flex and coil characteristics, and the smooth transitional trailing edge reduces water separation, which is traditional linked to cavitation. What this means for you is that the FCS H3 Nexus fins will provide increased speed and drive through minimal water disturbance.

FCS H3 Nexus Construction: Bi-axial Carbon and Uni-directional Kevlar

With the FCS H3 Nexus it’s easy to see how technology and performance overlap! Structurally, the H3 Nexus draws on a combination of engineered Bi-axial Carbon and Uni-directional Kevlar to achieve the TRICOIL flex pattern. The Uni-directional carbon base of the H3 further increases stiffness in the base of the fin, and helps to distribute pressure away from the plugs by reducing the twisting forces on the fin tabs. The Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) process delivers consistency across manufacturing and guarantees the integrity of the flex and foils. Last, epoxy resin is used, giving strength and material stability to the FCS H3 Nexus fins, while the lightweight moulded PU core further reduces the overall weight of the fin.

"Decent Fins on Smaller Days"
- Craig S., Indialantic, FL on the H3 Nexus Large

Overall Fin Rating: 3.5

Height: 6'2"
Weight: > 200 lbs.
Surfing Experience: (1 - 10): 6

Home Break: Indialantic, FL
Where did you surf these fins: Indialantic, FL
Wave Height: 2 - 4 ft.
Wave Conditions: Fair
Misc. Wave/Location Information: Surfed 2ft. - 4ft. clean fast conditions, up to shoulder high fair conditions.
Type of Board: Big Guy Shortboard
Board Size: 6 ft. 5 in.
Fin Setup: Thruster
Misc. Board Information: Round tail, wide and thick

Other Thoughts: Fins were fun on smaller waves, released easy and had decent drive. I was able to do floaters easily. As the wave size reached shoulder high, the fins didn't work as well as the MF-1 for my board and style. Overall a decent fin for smaller days.

"Sluggish"
- Diego A., Manhattan Beach, CA on the FCS H3 Nexus Medium

Overall Fin Rating: 2.5

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 151 - 160 lbs.
Surfing Experience: (1 - 10): 7

Home Break: El Porto
Where did you surf these fins: El Porto
Wave Height: 2 - 4 ft.
Wave Conditions: Fair
Misc. Wave/Location Information: N/A

Type of Board: Shortboard
Board Size: 5 ft. 11 in.
Fin Setup: Thruster
Misc. Board Information: N/A

Other Thoughts: Not a huge fan. The fins felt... Sluggish. Maybe smooth would be another adjective, but I didn't feel much pop from the fins once you got going on a wave they felt good, but the waves I surfed were poor to fair and these fins didn't perform that well in these conditions. Maybe they would have been good on meaty, punchy waves, but I think there are more versatile fins out there that work better in most conditions.

"Speed and Acceleration"
- Alexander N., Irvine, CA on the FCS H3 Nexus Large

Overall Fin Rating: 4

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 191 - 200 lbs.

Other Thoughts: Got lots of speed and acceleration from these fins. Through turns it would have this nice flex and release. I think of these fins as LARGE sized K 2.1 fins

"Loose and Little Drive"
- Jarret M., Melbourne, FL on the FCS H3 Nexus Small

Overall Fin Rating: 3.5

Height: 5'5"
Weight: 141 - 150 lbs.
Surfing Experience: (1 - 10): 6

Home Break: Spanish House, FL
Where did you surf these fins: Cocoa Beach, Melbourne Beach, Spanish House, Sebastian Inlet

Wave Conditions: Fair
Misc. Wave/Location Information: The waves condition ranged from poor to Good

Type of Board: Shortboard
Board Size: 5 ft. 7 in.
Fin Setup: Thruster
Misc. Board Information: N/A

Other Thoughts:
The fins were just a little to loose for my style, and there wasn't enough drive to keep my speed. It seemed like I was constantly fight to stay ahead of the wave. Over all they are not horrible fins, however I believe they will fit someone with a much looser style, also It was the smalls I used so maybe I will just step up the size and try that out....

"Great for Down The Line"
- William H., Virginia Beach, VA on the FCS H3 Nexus Medium

Overall Fin Rating: 4

Type of Board: Shortboard
Board Size: 5 ft. 8 in.
Fin Setup: Thruster
Misc. Board Information: My daily driver board by WRV a thumb tail that does most conditions well

Other Thoughts:
A lot of down the line speed, not great for pocket surfing but great for down the line section surfing, As good as fin I have ever surfed for doing airs, they really get you out of/above the lip. over all they were fun but in the end the were not as versatile as I would like them to be, but I do feel that some surfers would find them to be a perfect fit (it is a total style/goal call they are a great fin but are not exactly what I am looking for)

"Great Performance Fin"
- Caleb M., Titusville, FL on the FCS H3 Nexus Medium

Type of Board: Shortboard
Board Size: 6 ft.
Fin Setup: Thruster
Misc. Board Information: Board was built by peli surfboards in cocoa beach, built for small waves!!

Other Thoughts:
Great performance fin!! Does not give enough hold on bigger waves over 4ft if you're in the correct weight range I surfed the mediums for 140-150 weight so I suggest surfing bigger fins than normal if wanting to use these on bigger waves. Smaller more punchy and faster waves these fins work amazing great release in turns, nice quick carves, good hold in small barrels, and great driv to get past mushy sections!! Highly recommend fin for small high performance waves!! Enjoy
