Surfboard Bags: "Which Features are Important on a Surfboard Bag?"
There are a ton of features available with today's Surfboard Bags, but how do you sort through the hype to find the features that actually matter? You stay right here, that's how. In this article I will attempt to review some of the most important Surfboard Bag features, some of which you may not even be aware of. Keep in mind, there are some features that you won't care about, but others will. So, sometimes it's not about which features are important on a Surfboard Bag, it's about which features are important to you.
Different Surfboard Bags and Different Materials.
Past this, you should take a look at the material your Surfboard Bag is made out of, does it have one side reflective, to keep your Surfboards cool? Does it have one side made out of some sort of heavy duty nylon, so your bag won't fall apart? These are both important things to take a look at when purchasing your new Surfboard Bag.
The Zippers on Your Board Bag Matter.
Next, an unlikely thing to look at is the zippers, what's the point of buying a new Surfboard Bag if the zippers are only going to last you a year and then crap out? I personally had a
Prolite Travel Surfboard Bag for a very long time, I made tons of surf trips with it by my side, but after several years the zippers got very hard to use, then eventually they wouldn't budge at all. Please understand that this Surfboard Bag served me very well and lasted me a very long time, short of the zippers there was nothing wrong with the bag. If they didn't fail I probably could have gotten five more years out of this particular bag. Anyway, something to keep in mind, you want zippers that will hold up, like they did on my bag. Furthermore, some of our Surfboard Bag manufacturers have a lifetime guarantee on their zippers, so if they break, you just call them up and have them fixed.
Finding a Surf Bag that's Going to Fit.
Some companies we carry like FCS have begun experimenting with keeping the seams off the rails with some of the bags in the
FCS Surfboard Bag line. If you think about it, that's probably a good idea. The rails of your surfboard are often the part taking the impact, if you move any seams off the rails you can make sure they're completely covered in padding. Similarly, when you look at our line of Surfboard Bags you'll see a ton of different styles, which is important. How your Surfboard Bag fits your surfboards is key to having the protection you need. Make sure you're getting a Surfboard Bag that's going to fit your surfboards. It's probably a good idea to take some measurements and call us, that way we can make sure your getting a snug fit.
Your Boardbag, YOUR Features.
Last there are a ton of more "personal" features, or bells and whistles, when it comes to Surfboard Bags some you'll care about and some you won't. Some Surfboard Bags have a wetsuit pouch with drain holds on the outside of the bag, could be a nice feature if you typically wear a wetsuit where you surf. Others have expandable gussets on the tale end of the bag, super important if you like keeping your surfboard fins in your surfboard 24/7. Some Travel Surfboard Bags come with tie downs, some come with pockets on the inside for fins and wax, on others those pockets are on the outside. Some have vents to keep your surfboards cool, which could be important if you're located in F.L. where the heat could seriously damage your surfboards. Also, think about the handles and straps, are they padded well? This is especially important with Surfboard Travel Bags, you might not think so, but trust me it is.
