Firewire Mann Chum Lee Surfboard

Firewires product development is centered around three things: The exclusive use of epoxy resins and EPS foam cores, developing lighter and stronger surfboards through sandwich construction, and optimizing flex to maximize performance.

Firewire Mann Chum Lee Surfboard

Dan Mann States, I’ve been riding the Firewire Chum Lee for a while now. In 2009, when I first stepped beyond The Fish design for a groveler, I started with the Sweet Potato and then the Baked Potato as I explored shorter and shorter grovelers. As fun as super short boards are with the right fins and volume, I found the Chum Lee filled a key slot in my quiver. The Firewire Mann Chum Lee should be ridden a bit longer so I ride a Chum Lee that’s 2 in.-3 in. longer than my Baked Potato. The added rocker and round tail combined with less width make the Firewire Chum Lee super versatile and allow for a seamless transition back to a performance shortboard when the waves are going off.

Firewire Mann Chum Lee Surfboard Tech - Helium

Firewire is keeping their new Tech close to the chest until their new surfboards actually hit our shores. That said, here's what we know. With Helium there's no need to paint the board, as they are white skins, creating a noticeable weight savings. For example, a 5ft. 8in. Dominator Helium weighs just over 5 pounds, while the FST version comes in at 6 pounds and the Timber Teck version weighs 6.5 pounds. Firewire Helium is stronger, with the Integrity of FST, but with a better bond since Helium Surfboards don't have to be painted. Ultimately, this means the Helium Firewire Helium surfboards are lighter, but just as strong when it comes to breaking.

Additional Information:
The Firewire Mann Chum Lee Surfboard is intended for 1 ft. to 4 ft. surf, has low rails and comes in a 5-Fin setup.
